Ducati has taken the Multistrada V4 S and fitted it with everything a long-distance rider would usually add from the options list. The result is the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour, a bike ready to load up and head for the Alps from day one, with no accessory catalogue to work through first.
The Grand Tour comes with front and rear radar, which brings Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection and Forward Collision Warning. Techno-polymer side panniers with a combined 60 litres of space are finished to match the bodywork, and a centre stand makes loading, unloading and chain maintenance far easier.
For cold mornings and long days there are heated grips and heated seats for both rider and passenger. A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System shows readings on the dashboard, and hands-free ignition and a hands-free fuel cap mean the key can stay in your pocket all day. Lighting includes full LED with a daytime running light, Ducati Cornering Lights, additional LED spotlights, a rear fog light and dynamic indicators.
Power comes from the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, producing 170 hp at 10,750 rpm and 123.8 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Extended Cylinder Deactivation shuts down the rear bank at idle and in certain riding conditions to cut fuel use and heat in slow traffic, and valve clearance checks are needed only every 60,000 km.
Ducati Quick Shift up and down, Cruise Control, Vehicle Hold Control and five Riding Modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet and Enduro, are all included, controlled through a 6.5-inch colour TFT display with Ducati Connect for phone, music and navigation apps.
The Marzocchi Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO adjusts damping in real time and levels the bike automatically as the load changes, so it rides the same whether you are solo or two-up with full panniers. The Automatic Lowering Device drops the bike by up to 30 mm below 10 km/h, making it easier to get a foot down at junctions, then returns it to riding height above 50 km/h. Easy Lift reduces the effort needed to raise the bike off the side stand.
Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema calipers on twin 330 mm front discs, with Bosch Cornering ABS and an electronic combined braking system that shares braking force between the wheels according to conditions and load.
The Grand Tour is offered only in its own livery, with red accents and Grand Tour logos on the bodywork. The frame, swingarm, triple clamps, panniers, handlebar and risers are finished in black, and the rims carry Grand Tour branding. Every Multistrada V4 also comes with Ducati Roadside Assistance, and the Grand Tour is covered by Ducati's Multistrada 4Ever programme with a four-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
